Ankara, December 31, 2024 – The Europe Today: In his New Year’s message, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reiterated Türkiye’s commitment to promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in Syria, its borders, and the Palestinian territories, emphasizing the nation’s dedication to regional security and peacebuilding efforts.
Speaking on Tuesday, Erdogan expressed Türkiye’s determination to support efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in Syria. “We will provide all necessary support to ensure that the new era opens the door to lasting peace, tranquility, stability, and economic prosperity in Syria,” he stated.
The message, shared through the Turkish presidency’s official X account, outlined key priorities for the administration in the coming year, with a focus on regional security and humanitarian efforts.
Erdogan also addressed the ongoing crisis in Gaza and Palestine, calling for an immediate cessation of violence. “We are making intense efforts to end the massacres that have been ongoing in Gaza and other Palestinian territories for 15 months and to establish peace there as well,” he remarked, reaffirming Türkiye’s unwavering commitment to advocating for peace in the region.
The president highlighted Türkiye’s intent to play a pivotal role in regional reconstruction and peacebuilding, with a special emphasis on combatting terrorism. “In the coming period, we will take determined steps to realize our vision of a terror-free Türkiye and a terror-free region,” Erdogan declared.
Looking ahead to 2025, Erdogan expressed hopes for a new era in the region, particularly in northern Syria, and stressed the importance of a fair and just resolution to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. “It remains our priority that the war between Russia and Ukraine, our neighbors from the Black Sea, is ended with a fair peace,” he concluded, reaffirming Türkiye’s commitment to regional stability and diplomatic efforts for a peaceful future.
