Abu Dhabi, January 13, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, met with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, in Abu Dhabi on January 13. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between their nations, highlighting the friendly and brotherly relations that underpin their cooperation.
Sheikh Mohamed fondly recalled his official visit to Azerbaijan in 2024 and his attendance at COP29, during which he engaged in significant discussions with President Aliyev. Media reports indicate that the UAE President expressed gratitude for the fruitful exchanges during those visits.
President Ilham Aliyev commended the UAE’s participation in COP29, underscoring that the collaboration between Azerbaijan and the UAE, along with the UAE’s innovative contributions, played a pivotal role in the successful conclusion of the global event.
Both leaders praised the stability and peace prevailing in their countries and recognized the excellent level of political relations. President Aliyev highlighted the expanding economic and trade ties between Azerbaijan and the UAE, particularly in the renewable energy sector. He noted that the UAE’s investments in Azerbaijan’s renewable energy projects exemplify the depth of their friendship and partnership.
The meeting also emphasized the close collaboration in the traditional energy sector, which continues to strengthen bilateral ties.
In addition to discussing bilateral relations, the two presidents exchanged views on regional, global, and other issues of mutual interest.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared vision of Azerbaijan and the UAE to deepen cooperation across multiple domains, further solidifying their strategic partnership on the global stage.
