Vietnamese Leader Tô Lâm Leads Hùng Kings Commemoration, Emphasises National Unity and Cultural Preservation

Phu Tho, April 27, 2026 – The Europe Today: Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Communist Party and State President of Vietnam, on Saturday led an incense offering ceremony to honour the legendary Hùng Kings at the historic Hùng Kings Temple Complex.

The ceremony took place at Kính Thiên Palace, located on Nghĩa Lĩnh Mountain, marking the Hùng Kings’ Commemoration Day, observed annually on the tenth day of the third lunar month.

Accompanied by senior Party and State officials, as well as representatives from central and local agencies, President Lâm offered incense and flowers in tribute to the nation’s founders, acknowledging their pivotal role in laying the foundation for a prosperous and civilised Vietnam.

Following the ceremony, the leader met with local residents and visitors, extending wishes for health, unity, and well-being. He described the commemoration as a deeply meaningful occasion for all Vietnamese people to honour their ancestors and reflect on the nation’s historical legacy.

Recalling the words of Hồ Chí Minh — “The Hùng Kings founded the nation; we must together protect it” — President Lâm underscored the responsibility of present and future generations in safeguarding and advancing the country.

He emphasised that protecting the nation today extends beyond territorial defence to include preserving cultural heritage, protecting the environment, maintaining social order, strengthening public trust, and ensuring sustainable national development.

President Lâm also called on the authorities and people of Phú Thọ province to continue preserving and enhancing the Hùng Kings Temple complex, ensuring it remains dignified, environmentally sustainable, and welcoming.

He further encouraged the younger generation to pursue education, uphold Vietnamese cultural values, and deepen their understanding of the country’s rich history and traditions.
