US Ambassador Donald Blome Meets with Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Interior Mohsin Naqvi

Islamabad, July 14, 2024, The Europe Today: US Ambassador Donald Blome visited the Ministry of Interior on Saturday, where he was received by Federal Minister of Interior Mohsin Naqvi. The meeting underscored the robust Pak-US relations and addressed various matters of mutual interest, according to the Interior Ministry.

During the discussion, both parties agreed to enhance cooperation in the fields of counter-terrorism, anti-narcotics, and security. A major highlight of the meeting was the announcement of a Joint Law Enforcement Dialogue set to take place in October, aimed at bolstering collaboration between the two nations. Minister Naqvi emphasized the importance of US support in increasing the capabilities of Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies and assured that the Ministry of Interior would extend full support to strengthen bilateral relations.

Reflecting on his recent visit to New York, Mohsin Naqvi revealed ongoing discussions to enhance cooperation between the Islamabad Police and the New York Police Department. He announced that a delegation from the Islamabad Police would soon visit New York to explore training opportunities and foster collaboration.

Naqvi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to protecting minority rights, highlighting that all minorities in Pakistan enjoy equal rights under the Constitution. He reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring their protection and mentioned the swift action taken against the suspects involved in the Jaranwala incident.

The successful organization of the T20 World Cup in the US was also praised, with Naqvi noting the excellent arrangements made. He expressed optimism about the US becoming a new hub for international cricket and disclosed plans for a trilateral series involving Pakistan, the US, and Canada, as well as a cricket league in the US and Canada. Ambassador Blome lauded the exciting and thrilling matches that captivated a large audience and expressed his appreciation for the efforts to strengthen Pak-US relations.

Federal Secretary of Interior Khurram Ali Agha, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, and IG Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi were also present during the meeting.
