Bishkek, November 15, 2024 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry, in collaboration with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), has unveiled the Accelerated Renewable Energy Partnership in Central Asia (APRECA) program. The initiative was formally introduced during the Investment Forum on Energy Transition in Central Asia, held as part of COP29.
High-ranking officials, including ministers and deputy ministers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and the United Arab Emirates, attended the forum. Discussions centered on strategies to boost the adoption of green energy to satisfy rising energy demands, diversify energy sources, support economic development, and meet climate objectives within Central Asian nations.
The APRECA program seeks to unlock and mobilize the renewable energy potential of Central Asian countries, enhance investments, strengthen regional cooperation, and deliver socio-economic benefits through sustainable energy solutions. The initiative underscores the importance of collaboration in promoting green energy and tackling climate challenges across the region.
