Jakarta, November 20, 2024 — The Europe Today: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto departed for the United Kingdom on Tuesday (November 19), following his participation in the G20 Summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Presidential Secretariat confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that President Prabowo left Galeão International Airport in Rio de Janeiro at approximately 5:30 p.m. local time. He boarded the presidential aircraft accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
At the airport, the president was seen off by Indonesian Ambassador to Brazil, Edi Yusup, and Defense Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Brasília, Colonel Rizal Ashwam Amanda.
During the G20 Summit held on November 18-19, President Prabowo engaged in a full schedule of activities, including bilateral meetings with world leaders such as Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and French President Emmanuel Macron. He also met with leaders from MIKTA member countries, including Mexico, South Korea, Turkey, and Australia.
As part of his agenda, the president participated in the Indonesia-Brazil Business Forum and attended sessions at the G20 Summit hosted at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro.
Following his departure from Brazil, President Prabowo is set to meet with King Charles III and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in the United Kingdom. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties and foster economic cooperation.
Speaking on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, Prabowo expressed optimism about securing investment opportunities from the UK. “We will discuss economic issues and possibly attract investment for Indonesia,” he stated.
The visit to the UK marks the continuation of President Prabowo’s international engagements, emphasizing Indonesia’s proactive role in global diplomacy and economic development.
