Jakarta, February 6, 2025 – The Europe Today: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has vowed to take decisive action against corrupt individuals who hinder government efforts aimed at improving the prosperity of the nation.
Speaking at an event marking the 102nd anniversary of Nahdlatul Ulama on Wednesday evening, President Prabowo reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining a clean, corruption-free government, emphasizing that anyone who disrupts government initiatives will face accountability.
“I will take action against anyone who is disobedient,” Prabowo stated, underscoring the importance of supporting programs that promote public welfare. The president acknowledged that various parties have opposed and mocked his administration’s efforts, perceiving these actions as attempts to obstruct progress.
While resisting the urge to publicly engage with critics, President Prabowo called on cabinet ministers and institutional leaders to engage in self-reflection and correct any mistakes they find in the execution of their duties.
“We must ensure our government is free from corruption,” Prabowo declared. “I have asked all government officials and institutions to clean themselves up before they are cleaned up!”
The president also reiterated his commitment to a corruption-free Indonesia during a national coordination meeting last November, where he identified four critical obstacles to the nation’s prosperity: online gambling, drugs, smuggling, and corruption.
Prabowo highlighted the significant economic impact of these issues, noting that online gambling alone resulted in potential state revenue losses of Rp981 trillion (over US$60 billion), with illegal mining costing the country an estimated US$7 billion annually. These losses, he stated, are equivalent to the leakage in the state budget each year.
For Indonesia to achieve true prosperity, the president emphasized that these challenges must be effectively addressed under his leadership.
